colored pencil portrait of miss HYA LLANES (commissioned work)

It's finally finish and this is the final piece.
TADAAH!!

SO, let's tackle the early beginnings of this piece.

STEP 1: GRID METHOD for the OUTLINES using graphite lead HB pencil (i used staedler)

STEP 2: Layering of colors of the skintones
Using prismacolor colored pencil in peach, I applied the first layer. They say that you don't need all the colors, you just have to blend, but since this is a commission piece, I cannot just use this as an experiment.

Still understep 2, highlighting with some pale yellow tones, leaving areas as white and then using brown tones for shadows.

STEP 3: Drawing the eyes, nose and lips

This is the most critical part because the facial features represent the entire piece itself. I suggest that you do this part slowly but surely unless you are a genius at copying a picture then you're lucky! But for the people who are like me, definitely do it slowly.

STEP 4: HAIR

I have not taken down all the exact colors. I'm very sorry for that but i remembered there were browns, black, and some close to yellow for the lighting effect.
Drawing hair is intimidating at first but this is the part were you will have more freedom, just draw lines! hahaha start with the lighter then to darker hues.

STEP 5: skin and dress

For the skin, it's basically like doing the face. Start with the peaches and leaving some white areas. For the dress, I only used black colored pencil. Outlining first the design of the dress then filling up all the black areas. and poooofff!

I hope you enjoyed reading guys.

My Colored Pencil Drawing of Kathryn Bernardo aka CHICHAY from Got to Believe TV drama series.

So, I have laid out the outline using GRID METHOD. I find this method helpful for me because i have difficulty doing the right proportion of a human face.

When I color her face I used all the light/pastel colored pencils (sorry I forgot the exact colors I used). By the way, I am using prismacolor soft colored pencils (set of 150). The paper I used is smooth, a random sketchbook I bought from Jolis.

Now, time for the eyes. I don't have a special tip here, well you see, I'm self-taught. That's why I don't know what to really teach you. But I hope to help you with my progress pictures.

For the lips I used some colors on the ranges from peach to light pink.

For the hair, I actually used charcoal. I find it easier to apply the color. and I don't want to use up my black colored pencil. I blend it with cotton buds.

 Here is the final product.

Is it a YAY? or NAY?

Well, I'm still gonna do it and no one can stop me from doing what i love to do. WEIRD things!
I'm looking for a long sleeve gown (preferably laced on top)and a black hat to match this perfect look.
And I can't wait for Halloween to come!

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in black
